Managing Partner at Mikadze Gegetchkori Taktakishvili LLC. In 2004 Nikoloz joined Georgian PTO (Sakpatenti) as a lawyer in Legal Department. Till 2010 he held various positions in Sakpatenti including Head of Legal Department and Director of Legal Affairs. Simultaneously he was a member of the Chamber of Appeals of Sakpatenti. In 2010-2014 Nikoloz was employed as an attorney at law and patent and trademark attorney in intellectual property law firm Mikadze Gegetchkori Taktakishvili LLC. His responsibility was to represent the firm’s clients in IP litigation and advise clients on various IP matters. In 2014 Nikoloz was appointed as a chairman of Georgian PTO (Sakpatenti) for the term of 4 years till 2018. During his term Nikoloz was representing Georgia on international platforms and was engaged in negotiations of IP chapters in free-trade agreements with EU, EFTA and China. At the same time Nikoloz was chairing the working committees of Lisbon Agreement and Madrid Union at the WIPO. Since 2018 Nikoloz is the managing partner of IP law firm Mikadze Gegetchkori Taktakishvili LLC. In 2020-2022 as expert was invited by the EUIPO, to prepare gap analysis of Georgian and EU trademark and design legislation and to draft corresponding legal amendments. Within the same project Nikoloz was participating as an expert in drafting trademark guidelines for Georgia. Today, Nikoloz and his law firm in Georgia represent the interests of many foreign and local companies in protecting intellectual property rights. Nikoloz has been a member of the Bar Association since 2004, and he obtained the status of Georgian Patent Attorney in 2010. He is also the co-chair of the intellectual property committee in Georgian Bar Association. Nikoloz is a certified WIPO trainer of IP and gives lectures in various Georgian universities as well as in international courses of IP. In addition to his native language, Nikoloz is fluent in English and Russian. His main responsibilities are to provide consulting and legal services in the field of Intellectual property; provide TM, Design and Patent filing and search services; Represent company’s clients in litigation before Georgian PTO (Sakpatenti) and the Chamber of Appeals of Georgian PTO (Sakpatenti). Represent company’s clients before Georgian courts in IP litigation; Provide IP review and legal opinions for the clients.
